Treatment Modalities
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) - I use ACT with many people who are struggling with anxiety, self esteem, avoidance, existential angst and ADHD. This is particularly helpful to focus on things that are within your control and accept things that are outside of your control. Mindfulness is used through this approach to change your relationship with emotions and live more authentically in the present moment.
IFS (Internal Family Systems) - This works very well with ACT to help understand different thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and separate from them so you can be more curious and accepting of them. This can be helpful to understand the role and function of different thoughts and emotions and connect to your true self in a deeper way.
CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) - This is an evidence based approach that is highly effective for trauma. CPT is very structured and challenges negative and unrealistic beliefs that you may be avoiding. Common themes that are brought up are Safety, Trust, Power/Control, Esteem and Intimacy.
Polyvagal Theory - This is a scientific theory that focuses on how the autonomous nervous system responds to stress and helps regulate physical and mental health. It is often helpful to understand the biology and neuroscience of different emotions and behaviors to normalize your experience and understand what is going on in your body.
